A GEORGE III PARQUETRY TRIMMED FLAME MAHOGANY CUTLERY BOX WITH ELEVEN STERLING HOLLOWARE UTENSILS, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY, of serpentine bow front rectangular form and conforming slant hinged lid, centering a scrolling cartouche form brass escutcheon stamped "TT" and flanked by brass bale handles, opening to an interior with marquetry star inlay above a compartment with variously shaped cutlery slots, raised on claw and ball brass feet, height: 14 1/4", width: 9", depth: 7"; with five steel scimitar blade sterling holloware knives and six two steel tined sterling holloware forks, three knife blades stamped "MADIN," each utensil handle impress stamped with block form "STERLING" opposite silversmith's "M&T," knife length:10 1/2", fork length: 8".
Condition
Good condition, with some old repairs, a few veneer losses, right side with some veneer buckling, minor surface marks and scratches, small chips.
