Description
Qing Dynasty Large Empire Hand Forged Bronze Censor W/Ornate Gold Incised Work & Side Mounted Portraits (Piece from the Palace) - This is a magnificent specimen, and is a piece from the palace. This piece has side mounted portraits, is scrolled with incised gold, and is handmade. The attention to detail is that of a master's. This piece is as big as a window in a home, and is truly museum quality. The censor bears the maker's mark on the bottom. The truly unique legs of this piece are not attached, the feet are Turtles that have Dragon heads and the portraits appear to me on an exotic composition. The piece also has Phoenix legs, Fu Dogs around the top, and a dragon on the lid. The lid features copper and gold accents. This piece was in An Dinh Palace, and survived the war. Measures: 62"H x 35"W x 35"D.
