Fountain shaped as a pedestal in minimal design provided with four doves in bronze, which are arranged in the corners of the stone plate facing each other
Condition:
The fountain shows obvious traces of weathering with loss of material in some places and natural remains (such as moos) can be seen. The doves are in good condition; they bear less traces of weathering. The fountain is equipped with pipe and water nozzle. The functionality has not been tested. The dimensions of the stone plate are 9.5 x 65.5 x 65.5 cm and the doves c. 19 x 26 x 12 cm each. The total height measures 96.5 cm.
Georg Brenninger (1909-1988)
Georg Brenninger was a German sculptor and architect working in Munich. After being trained as a bricklayer, Brenninger studied architecture at the technical university under Theodor Fischer at the beginning of the 1930s, after that he continued his education at the academy of fine arts, studying sculpture under Hermann Hahn. After 1945 the artist himself worked as a professor of sculpture and architecture at the academies in Munich. Brenninger mainly worked with stone and bronze. Firstly, his oeuvre is characterized by a classical concept of the figure, after World War II the artist developed abstract tendencies. Brenninger created a lot of works for public space. His sculptures were shown in many national and international exhibitions. (msc)
