REGINALD MARSH (NY, 1898-1984) - Design for the Patriotic Mural in Grand Central Station, 1941, graphite, charcoal and wash on paper, depicting the largest photo mural in the world, which had been planned for 1942, but was hurriedly installed overnight on December 14th, 1941, the Sunday following Pearl Harbor. Multiple labels verso, including Midtown Galleries of NYC; Christie's sale tag; WAM (Wichita Art Museum) and Squibb Gallery of Princeton, NJ tags from the exhibition "Painting America: Mural Art in the New Deal" of 1988. In a mahogany box frame, matted and glazed. OS: 28" 41", SS: 26" x 38 1/2". Joined from two pieces, edge tears and chips.
