PAOLO DE POLI (Italy, 1905-1996) - "Madonna in a Red Robe", a 20th c. Altarpiece in the manner of the Renaissance Masters, most especially Raphael, egg tempera and gilding with scraffito on a wooden panel, marked "Poli" verso and given as a wedding gift by the artist to the consignor, in the 1960s. In a fine water gilt Florentine molded frame, OS: 26 3/4" x 16 1/4", SS: 24" x 13 1/2". Fine condition. Poli, renowned for his accurate replication of the Italian Masters, (with many altarpieces installed in churches), also designed furniture, ceramics and enamels from his Padua studios, which have continued producing after his death, operated by family members.
