An attractive and nicely engraved map of Florida and South Carolina with insert of Charleston. Orlando, St. Petersburg, Myrtle Beach are yet to shown on maps like this. St. Augustine, given its historical importance is prominently featured. The geographical detail, accurate and carefully delineated, is contained within an elaborate and decorative engraved border. It is from "Mitchell's New General Atlas, Containing Maps Of The Various Countries Of The World, Plans of Cities, Etc.".

Samuel Augustus Mitchell (1790-1860) was an American geographer born in Connecticut. He worked as an educator before turning to publishing geography textbooks and maps.
