Condition
Very good. The spines are chipped to their ends, with some missing material. There is one split at the top back edge of Volume II's spine. Both spines are slanted, but reasonably well-connected. There are shallow bumps to the outside corners. The inside front covers have the personal bookplates of Charles Hewins. These are the only stamps. There are no notations. There are several cracked gutters, and partial looseness to a few end pages, but the binding is good overall, with no missing pages, and no cracked gutters to almost all pages The pages are clean throughout both volumes, with all text and the many illustrations unfaded. There are chips to the outside edges of a few end pages, but there are no tears of any significance.
