Type: Copperplate engraving

Description: This map is based on Peter Pond's travels while a part of the Northwest Company and information from native sources, along with a liberal helping of wishful geography. The map shows a water route from the western end of Lake Superior to both the Pacific and Arctic Oceans with only a few short portages. The map appeared in the March 1790 edition of Gentleman's Magazine, and is labeled so in the upper right corner.

Size: 7.75 x 9.25 (sheet 8.5 x 10.75) inches.
