Description
From a prominent collection, a Boston & Albany Railroad frame made by The New England Glass Company and it is double marked B&A RR on the lid and the bell. This frame has a flat top brass cap and 3 rows of vent holes on the top. It has the unique lid latch assembly under the lid. The base has a skirt and it has a row of rounded 5 point stars. This is NEG all the way. The bell does not have the 1868 patent used on these brasstop frames but it has the tin collar that comes over 50% of the way up the glass fount so it is all original NEG. It has a Beacon burner and that is appropriate for this model. The metal is in fine condition.
The globe is a standard size to fit a New England Glass frame. That means it has a 2 3/4" top diameter and it is slightly shorter than the barrels with a 2 1/2" top diameter. There is a nice B&ARR casting in a rectangular panel. This lantern pre-dates the existence of the Bangor & Aroostook railroad so it is definitely Boston & Albany.
