Description
A violin by Johan Georg Thir. Paper label inside reads "Joannes Georgius Thir, fecit Viennx, Anno, 1779 (79 of 1779 handwritten in pen). Measures 23" x 7.25" (58.5 cm x 18.5 cm). Comes with hard case, bow and a soft case that fits over the hard case. There is a 1.25" crack on the side see, close-up photo added. The consignor of this violin states it was authenticated years ago by Schuback Violin Shop, Portland, Oregon. Unfortunately, he can not find the paperwork at this time. It was brought from Germany in the 1940's by a relative and he has more provenance that can be provided. He has authorized me to guarantee authenticity, however, we would need it to be returned within 30 days of the auction to do a return. Any questions please feel free to call. 206.412.0786.
