Small closed tear to edge of 1 map. 1871.

Five Parliamentary documents on the silk culture of Japan, featuring a total of 10 plates, including 2 color, and 3 folding maps. Adams was Secretary to the British Legation in Yokohama. In the summer of 1869, he made the first of his three tours of the silk producing districts of Japan. The purpose of the tours appears to have been the investigation of the various methods of silk-culture throughout the silk districts of Japan.

Condition
General toning and light wear, occasional chips and closed tears to edges, plates in very good condition with a few closed tears; very good.
