Description
Unframed Leo Belgicus engraved image from the Antique Map "De Bello Belgico Decas II Famiani". This engraving was produced in 1967 and includes a "frame" of well-known figures in Belgian history, along with the Lion-shaped Map of Belgium. The shield missing from this design held the original name of the map, "De Bello Belgico Decas II Famiani". The shield is removed from this print and thus the lion's paw is simply raised rather than supporting the shield. Seems to depict Belgium as the center of the world. Measures 18H x 22.5W inches. Included in this lot is a 1996 color lithograph (in French) of the royal houses of Europe entitled "Les Grandes Dynasties d'Europe," (from Clovis to the present day), which measures 18H x 22W inches.
