Description
Chinese Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze stupa, having opening at the center, raised on square multi layer of pedestals, with pagoda roof, crest moon shape, and arrays of various symbol to the top. All reserved with highly detail reliefs of mythical Beast, ruyi, deities, flames, symbolic and geometrical pattern. The gilt bronze stupa cast in a hemispherical structure, the shape of the stupa represents the Buddha, adorned with many jewels on the crown set on the top of the spire; the head is the square at the spire's base; the body is the vase shape; the legs are the four steps of the lower terrace; and the base is his throne.
Although not described in any Tibetan text on stupa symbolism, the stupa may represent the five purified elements:
The gilt bronze square base represents earth
The hemispherical dome/vase represents water
The conical spire represents fire
The upper lotus gilt bronze parasol and the crescent moon represents air
The sun and the dissolving point represents the element of space
Underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi.
Dimensions: 14-3/4" H x 6-3/8" W

Condition
Excellent condition, with normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dent. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. Normal, considering ages and wears.
