Description
Very fine Louis XVI style gilt bronze mounted Regulateur de Parquet clock by Franz Hermle, 20th century, after the model attributed to Jean-Henri Riesener (French, 1734-1806), the whole with faux tortoiseshell inlay surmounted by a cloud-form case with three frolicking putti suspending garlands, centering a white enamel dial with Roman numeral chapters, the mechanism en verso marked 'Franz Hermle / Made in Germany / 351-053H,' leading to a spreading socle with ribbon-tied foliate swags, above the square tapering pedestal headed by an Apollo mask with a sunburst, above scrolling foliage centering a cartouche of a flower-filled urn and rocaille, the sides with faux tortoiseshell panels flanked by acanthus mounts, terminating to four paw feet above a shaped plinth centering a foliate wreath, the whole rising on four toupie feet, 83"h x 19.5"w x 12.75"d.
