Description
Oil on canvas. 48 x 40 in. (canvas), 55 x 47 in. (framed). From askart: Born Loveland, CO, 1913; died Ithaca, NY, May 28, 2005. Painter, specifically figure, portrait, mural. Studied at the Kirkland School of Art, Denver, CO. Received an MFA in painting from Colorado College in 1939 and studied at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center under Boardman Robinson, George Biddle, and Henry Varnum Poor. He won commissions from the Works Progress Administration's federal section of fine arts to paint murals in several post offices in Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska including Cowboys Driving Cattle in the Caldwell Post Office painted in 1941, Picnic in Kansas and Changing of the Horses for the Pony Express for the Horton Post Office in 1938-39.
