accompanied note reading: (IMPORTANT RUSSIAN SILVER PARTLY GILT PRESENTATION FLAGON AND STAND, Cyrillic maker's mark D.G. Moscow 1875..., a circular plaque on each side, one inscribed in Cyrillic "12-24 August 1875", the other engraved with a violin and bow, the hinged cover with the Cyrillic inscription "It is not the beer or the honey that is important, rather it is the fellowship", the stand engraved in Cyrillic "H.R.H. The Duke Alfred of Edinburgh from Count Kutaisow, V. Moshnin and V. Elarov" enclosing the royal cypher "A" for Alfred, the border with the inscription in Cyrillic "Our Ancestors ate simply but lived almost a hundred years"..., Alfred Ernest Albert (1844-1900) Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Duke of Edinburgh, second son and fourth child of Queen Victoria, was born at Windsor Castle on Aug. 6th, 1844. He was created Duke of Edinburgh in 1865 and became Admiral of the Fleet in 1893.
