CDV size tintype 3.75 x 2.25 inches. Excellent clarity and contrast. Uncased. Shows Archibald Campbell in uniform and displaying his artillery saber. Has a couple surface nicks and edge wear. Label on the back reads Archibald Campbell 29 Years 1st Artillery. Research shows.... Residence was not listed; 28 years old.Enlisted on 9/14/1861 at Chicago, IL as a Corporal.On 9/28/1861 he mustered into "Batty B" Co. NY 1st Light Artillery He deserted on 3/15/1865. This entry is likely in error. The odds of a soldier fighting through four years and deserting a month before the end are slimThis unit fought at Antietam, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and Cold Harbor.
