Description
This is an incredibly detailed very monumental size map of Paris showing the city form the French revolution (1790-94), seeing among other things, the execution of King Louis XVI. The map was created for the Paris Municipal Council, as part of a series of maps showing how the city changed over the years. This map is based on E Verniquet's c. 1789-1796 plan of Paris (Atlas du Plan General de la Ville de Paris). Paris had the shown 16 arrondissements in the late 18th century. The incredible amount of details provided include the streets, parks, churches, cemeteries, city walls, all the important buildings such as the Louvre, Palais de Justice, Notre Dame, Les Invalides, etc. Many buildings show their footprint layout. The borders of this map show the symbols of saints, coat of arms of churches, hospitals, points of interest, etc.
