Framed oval on canvas portrait of Brigadier General Lord John Hay attributed to Sir John Baptist de Medina. Bears plaque affixed to base of frame, "Brigdr Genrl Lord Joh Hay / 2nd Son 2nd Marquis of Tweeddale / b.______ d. 1706 / Commanded the Royal Scots Greys / At the Battles of Schellenberg 1704 & Ramalies 1706 / Sir John Medina, Pinxt". Doig. Wilson & Wheytley, Edinburgh label affixed verso. Dimensions: 30"h x 24.5"w; (framed) 37"h x 32"w. Brigadier General Lord John Hay was a nobleman, the Second Marquis of Tweeddale. Relined. Scattered scratches and wear to gilt on frame.
