Item Details

Description

Hand-colored, antique nautical chart of the Western Coast of the United States, from Gray’s Harbor to the Entrance of Admiralty Inlet. Coastal chart of the northwestern corner of Washington, Cape Flattery and the Straits of Juan de Fuca, with pictorial views of Destruction Island and other prominent landmarks. These charts were intended for navigational purposes by sea captains and included information relative to tides, soundings, lighthouses, sailing directions with noted danger areas and other pertinent data. Because the U. S. Coastal Survey produced these maps on somewhat fragile paper, the large majority of them have not survived, or are too delicate to handle. However, this one is sound with just one small repaired edge tear and a tiny repaired fold intersection plus the typical lightly toned folds. 14.5 x 17.75.AUTHENTIC, ANTIQUE MAP--THIS SELLER DOES NOT DEAL IN REPRODUCTIONS
