Overall age wear, with a small cut to the upper left corner, not affecting the text or signature. G £150-200 The Theatre Historique was founded by Dumas in 1847 but went bankrupt in 1850 and closed. The building was acquired by the National Opera and re-named in 1852 the Theatre Lyrique, and later knocked down in 1863. Dumas, ruined, had to sell the Monte-Cristo castle and went to Belgium escaping from his creditors.
