Landscape. Oil on board. 9 1/2 x 7 1/4 in. (board), 12 1/2 x 10 1/2 in. (framed). Chios, 1881 - Piraeus, 1965.Stylianos (also referred to and under the diminutive Stelios) Miliadis born on the island of Chios in 1881. Chios is almost deserted during the Greek Revolution, after the Turks massacred on the island in 1822. At the insistence of the "great powers", the island was not included in the revived Greek state remained under Ottoman control. At the end of the war and received guarantees of the population, among whom was the family Miliadisov, he returned to the island. For education, Stelios Miliadis moved to the Greek kingdom and settled in Piraeus. The first painting lessons Miliadis received from residing in Piraeus, the famous Greek painter Constantine Volanakisa.
