Description
This is a 1928 etching titled Negro Porto by famed French artist Georges Rouault (1871-1958) that was part of Georges illustrations he did for the Les Reincarnations du Pere Ubu by Ambroise Vallard (published circa 1932). The etching is on paper and is initialed GR and dated 1928 by Rouault in the plate. Piece is great condition and framed in modern molded wood frame with piece matted under glass. Similar Rouault illustrations of these by Rouault are at the Museum of Modern Art. Known for his figure, still life, and genre artwork, a Georges Rouault titled Fille de Cirque sold at auction in 1990 for $1,600,000.
