Description
A rare carved wooden Karawari River Ancestor figure, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea -This sculpture is unusual for a Men's house figure as it was carved in full form as opposed to profile kamangabi figures. There is a avian motif on the back of the head and overall the figure is weathered and worn. The figure measures 54 inches tall x 9 inches wide. Provenance: Field collected By John C. Edler, C. 1978.
