Description
Desirable political award, the Order of the German Eagle, instituted by Adolf Hitler on May 1, 1937 and awarded largely to foreign diplomats sympathetic to Nazism, although Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh, for example, were Americans so honored. This example, constructed post-1943 , measures 45mm from edge to edge, with all inlay work in fine condition obverse and reverse. The suspension ring bears the imprinted maker's mark"21"Â and"900"Â, indicating the silver content. The swords added to the cross indicates that the medal was awarded partially for military merit. Sold with original ribbon bar and original red case, featuring a functional clasp closure and a gilt embossed national eagle. Minor wear and bumps to the case itself, yet overall, in better condition than is typically seen.
