Description
1886 1st ed Kidnapped Robert Louis Stevenson Scotland Jacobite Highlander MAP
Robert Louis Stevenson was a 19th-century Scottish author known for his adventure novels such as ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ and ‘Treasure Island’. ‘Kidnapped’ is one of the author s best books and often considered a companion to ‘Treasure Island’ as well as to ‘Catriona.’ The story centers around 18th-century Scottish events of the "Appin murder" after the Jacobite rising of 1745. Many characters are based on real people, and the political situation is portrayed from multiple viewpoints with the Scottish Highlanders being viewed sympathetically.
