Description
A rare dinosaur-era petrified wood log, Cretaceous Period, 95 - 90 million years ago, Sahara Desert. This unusually large fossil, hollow log of petrified wood dates back to the days of the dinosaurs and retains minute detail of when it was once wood. There is one major branch that is partially hollow, which leads into what was once the inside of the tree, showing a split wood interior. Such a large lifelike petrified log from the Sahara Desert region is a rare specimen indeed, although there are areas in the North Sahara that are home to petrified trees that are the remains of entire forests once alive in prehistory. 7 x 8 x 15 ¾ inches. Ex French private collection.
