37 1/4" x 62" sheet.
Early Map of the Russian Continent in Cyrillic with a Depot de la Marine French Navy Stamp. The Depot de la Marine was founded by Philippe d'Orleans in 1720. Serving as the Regent of France from 1715 to 1723, he encouraged the production of highly detailed maps to be stored at the newly created Depot where they could be studied by French sailors in preparation for their voyages abroad. It should also be noted that one of the first European mapping campaigns of Russia was undertaken by Jacques Nicolas De L'isle in the middle of the 18th century.
