Description
A NEOCLASSICAL REVIVAL "PUTTO WITH NESTING BIRDS" GILT AND PATINATED METAL BELGE NOIR MARBLE CLOCK, PARIS, 1860-1900, the inquisitive figure of a seated putto with one hand holding a nest of birds while his other searches amidst foliage atop rockwork, over a circular white enamel dial with black Roman hour numerals above twin key escapements, verso clockworks marked indistinctly with maker's mark, "Estalissement, H...lle, Paris," engraved numbers 463 and 6-9, raised on a rectangular base centering a ribbon hung fruiting and flowering garland, over a scrolling foliate and cabochon shield relief cast cavetto mounted on a conforming plinth raised on block pedestal form feet. Height: 19" Width: 11" Depth: 4 3/8" Provenance: Lifelong Collection of Clocks and Antiques, Navasota, Texas.
Condition
Some small nicks and chips along marble edges and corners, mild smudges, dust, patina, and mild rubbing to finish, but overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
