Description
Charming sampler inscribed: Esther Redgrave/ Aged 10 years/ 1830. This colorful sampler features an alphabet, animals, birds, flowering motifs, and a verse about how employment keeps us on the straight and narrow, all encompassed within a four-sided strawberry and vine border. Early hand written information on the back indicates that Esther married Robert Fenning, Parish Clerk of Hemingstone, Suffolk. The condition and colors are very good, no stains or lost stitches. There are some small holes in the background fabric near Esther’s name. 16.25 x 16.25 inches framed.
