Description: AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY CHINESE PORCELAIN PLATE RECOVERED FROM A SHIP WRECKthe Chinese blue and white chrysanthemum plate from the trading junk Tek Sing, with certificate of authenticity 'The Treasure of Tek Sing',the dish 15.5cm diameterProvenance:The certificate of authenticity states:"This lot is part of the treature from the legendary Chinese trading junk, Tek Sing (True Star). She sank in the South China seas in 1822, with a loss of 1800 lives, great than that of the Titanic. She was carrying the greatest cargo of porcelain ever found. Captain Mike Hatcher, the salov of the Nanking Cargo, recovered this amazing hoard and brought it to market. Each piece bears the original collection label from Nagel's auction house in Stuttgart, where the cargo was finally sold in the largest auction to date, 178 years later in November 2000."
