Description
Antique German porcelain doll, fully dressed in a Civil War period [late 1850s-early 1860s] crinoline balldress [ball dress], undergarments, and petticoat hand-sewn by Sylvia Dornhecker, a recognized American doll collector. Fine miniature work: elaborate fitted bodice, lace, and handmade miniature medallions in shape of roses around the dress. The doll comes in it's own glass dome as pictured.
The doll's head, hands and legs are made of porcelain, the body is soft. The doll stands 9.1/4" [23.5cm] tall. The black glaze of the doll's shoes shows some wear, otherwise very good condition. The wire with the loop around doll's breast keeps her in standing position.
Due to the glass dome protection, the garments are near fine condition.
The doll is under a glass dome on a wooden base. The base was made by Timberline Woodcrafters, Henderson, North Carolina [the original vintage [c.1950s-1960s] label is on the bottom of the wooden base.
