Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A set of 3 hand-built, stone-burnished, and red-hued pottery bowls, each of a tripodal design - one exhibiting rattle legs, one with a band of impressed circles, and the largest with an incised basin surrounded by orange and white panels. Size of largest: 8.51" Diameter x 3.375" H (21.6 cm x 8.6 cm)

Provenance: private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, USA, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000

Each vessel with professional repair and restoration, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and most break lines; some chips and visible fissures still remain. Each with light fading to pigment, minor abrasions, and some small chips, otherwise in nice condition. Great remains of motifs and decorative elements. Previous inventory label beneath each body.
