Central Asia, Tibet, Kathmandu Valley, ca. early 19th century CE. A beautiful painted wooden panel used for adornment of a monastery depicting Buddha's mother, Maya, in brilliant pigments as she holds a lotus flower in front of a mandorla, all set in a frame of floral motifs and auspicious symbols. Size: 1.3" L x 19.5" W x 35" H (3.3 cm x 49.5 cm x 88.9 cm); with frame: 1.3" L x 23.4" W x 39" H (3.3 cm x 59.4 cm x 99.1 cm)

Small area of loss to pigment in lower left corner and some nicks and abrasions to surface as shown, but otherwise mostly intact and excellent with great pigments and detail. Suspension wire on verso for display.
