An antique late 19th century rare Russian lacquered hand painted wooden trinket box with a hinged lid. Black body, silver interior. The lid depicts a scene of Russian village life with a woman carrying water. Traces of stamps on the inner side of the lid, Vishnyakov manufacture in Zhostovo. Zhostovo is a village in Moscow Oblast, a well known center of lacquer miniature art and painting on metal trays. Russian Lacquer Miniature For Collectors, Folk Art And Decor.

Dimensions: H 1 5/8 in. L 5 1/2 in. W 3 3/8 in. All measurements are approximate.

Condition
