Description
A Mossi Iron Staff Finial Burkina Faso, c. 19th to early 20th century This rare and unique iron staff finial depicts a human with large feet standing with arms akimbo. A long neck elevates an abstract, helmet mask shaped head with very large, elephant-like ears. The mouth and jaw jut forward, a long plait of hair flares out from the back. There is a pot or basket balanced on top of the head. In very good condition, the object on top was broken in ancient times. A patina of age with rust in the recessed areas. With a metal stand.
