Early 1900s Louis Vuitton Luggage Case
Early 1900s Louis Vuitton Luggage Case owned by Augusta McLane Robinson, wife of Lucius Franklin Robinson Jr. of Hartford, CT, with hand painted monogram "A. J. Mc L", case is numbered 789627 and has exterior stickers proving travel on the Mauretania and other first-class voyages, interior of case is lined in linen with Louis Vuitton straps, and has a tray and interior pouches, lock is marked with "M"; used condition, wear/worn, surface distress, scratches, spotting on interior, exterior travel stickers, small loss to bottom of case; case measures approximately 19 1/2" x 19 1/2" x 9"

Augusta J. McLane Robinson had been chairwoman of the Connecticut Women’s Organization for National Prohibition Reform from 1929 to 1933, and vice chairwoman of the National Committee from 1930 to 1933. She served as a 1933 delegate at large to the Connecticut Constitutional Convention. Mrs. Robinson was a former president of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra Women’s Auxiliary and the Hartford Garden Club. She was a former director of the Hartford Women’s Exchange, the Gray Lodge Shelter and the Union for Home Work.

Her husband Lucious Franklin Robinson Jr. was a WWI veteran, a graduate of Yale University, a graduate of Harvard Law School, a prominent Connecticut lawyer who held many city and state positions.
