German, late 19th/early 20th century, the bases with crossed swords mark, incised '2868' and 'B65', modeled by Johann Joachim Kaendler and Johann Carl Schoenheit, each approximately 18-7/8 x 8-1/2 x 7-1/8 in.
Provenance: Christie's East, New York, lot 325 (labels); Collection of Steve Stewart, Lake Lure, North Carolina
Condition
anomalies, pinholes, and firing cracks (notably at base of male), small chips and losses to flowers; male figure with loss to bow on proper left leg and pinky of proper right hand (retained), repair to proper right hand (see blacklight); lady with loss to handle of basket (leaving an abraded area)
