In 1996, Stan began auctioning rare cameras and created a successful rare camera auction business, Tamarkin Auctions. Since that time we have held auctions in New York, Denver, Tucson, Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, and New Haven and have repeatedly set world records for prices achieved at auction.
In 2010, Stan retired from Tamarkin Camera and his eldest son, Dan, took over the family business and moved it to downtown Chicago. Nowadays, Dan operates Tamarkin Auctions in Chicago, Illinois.

great auction
I've relied on them several times before. Their product descriptions are always accurate, and their responses to questions are prompt. They are truly professional. It often makes me wonder why other auctions have such slow shipping, but Tamarkin is quick to deliver. I'm looking forward to the next time as well.

Online Auction review
This is a lot of fun to watch as its happening and the response time is instantaneous. This year, the auction sound was garbled (on my computer) for the first time since I started participating. It was workable, just didn't hear many of the side comments that make these interesting. Did get to purchase a few items however. One such item I am still waiting for as they are repairing it at their expense. In any auction or online purchase, you have to assume the worst and get things that are either returnable or are easy fixes. I have had good luck with most of my Tamarkin purchases. They are a reputable firm.

Basically satisfied
I purchased two items one was better than expected the other was missing parts and did not function and will need repair. So my experience is about what I have experienced on eBay with used items.

Seller misled buyer by using fake camera
This seller shipped a fake Russian Zorki copy instead of advertised Leica Shanghai Copy to me. After received the camera, I contacted Dan Tamarkin fro returning the fake Zorki camera, he firmly refused. Not honest seller.
