Whether you have one item or a house full of furniture and effects we provide a valuation service to meet your needs. Valuations at our auction rooms Valuations can most readily be undertaken at our auction rooms. Collections & Delivery The Auction Company Broadway vans can be booked for collections and deliveries for both full and part loads, be it one item or the entire contents of a house. For the delivery of smaller individual purchases we are able to provide quotes for a packaging and postal service. Quotes can also be provided for packaging and delivery of larger items. Probate Valuations There are times when families have matters of probate to be dealt with. At this time The Auction Company can offer a probate valuation service, working alongside your legal representatives or with the executors of the estate. A full probate valuation will be prepared and if further assistance is required with regard to the clearance of a property we can provide our house clearance and auction service to deal with all aspects as might be required by an estate. Guide to buying at The Auction Company Broadway Catalogues General Sales- £3, available Thursday prior to sale + online 10 days prior to sale. Buyer Numbers Unique buyer numbers are available on the day of the sale from the time the auction rooms open. You can register for a number until the end of the sale. In order to receive a buyer number all you have to supply us with is your name, address, postcode and telephone number. You only have to register for a buyer number once, not every time you attend a sale. There is no fee for registering. First Time Buyers Once you have obtained your buyer number you can bid on any lot in the sale. If you think the auctioneer has not seen you then call out for his attention. If he misses your bid then you miss your lot - the drop of the hammer is final and binding. Bidding At the fall of the hammer, the highest bidder, acceptable to the Auctioneer, shall be the purchaser and any dispute shall be settled by the Auctioneer whose decision shall be absolute and final. No lots shall be transferable. In making a bid, Purchasers acknowledge their attention has been drawn to the Conditions of Sale and that they are satisfied as to the description and condition of the lots, that any description either in a sale day catalogue or verbally are in our opinion only and not to be relied upon. The Contract of Sale is made with the Auctioneers, as Agents for the Vendors and payment shall be made only to them. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Auctioneers shall retain a lien on all goods which shall not pass to the Purchaser until full payment has been received. Pre-Sale Bids / Commission Bids If you wish to bid in the sale but cannot attend the sale or do not wish to bid for yourself then we are able to bid on your behalf with a pre-sale or commission bid. Complete one of our pre-sale / commission bid cards and leave it at the office in good time before commencement of the sale. It is advisable to double check the lot numbers and the descriptions you have written down so that you leave bids on the correct lots. Telephone Bids In addition to the above we can accept telephone bids with a minimum bid value of £200. These must be booked in advance with the auction office. Buyers Premium A 15% buyer’s premium operates, in addition to which VAT(at the provaling rate) is applicable. Payment Payment can be made by any of the following: Cash Buyers own personal cheque – only accepted by prior agreement Credit/Debit cards (3% surcharge) Bankers Draft We do not accept American Express Items can be paid for on the day of the sale or at time of collection (goods will not be released until payment has been made in full). Collection of Purchases Lots are available for collection at the end of the sale. Present your buyer number at the office and you will be given an invoice; once this is paid in full your item is available for collection. Return to the saleroom point of collection and a porter will collect your lots for you. All lots are to be removed on the day of the sale unless alternative arrangements have been agreed with us. All goods purchased are to be removed from the sale room within three working days after the auction; uncollected items thereafter will attract a storage fee of £10 per Lot per day. PLEASE NOTE: ALL PURCHASERS MUST SATISFY THEMSELVES AS TO THE CONTENT AND CONDITION OF EVERY LOT PRIOR TO PURCHASE. THE AUCTIONEERS OFFER NO GUARANTEE OR WARRANTY WHATSOEVER. ALL GOODS ARE SOLD IN ACCORDANCE WITH NATIONAL CONDITIONS OF SALE APPLYING AT THE TIME OF AUCTION, AS DISPLAYED. Guide to selling at The Auction Company Broadway General Sales Our General Sales consist of approximately 600 lots and are held throughout the year. Entries into these sales range from furniture in need of restoration to household furniture and effects, garden equipment, plants, ceramics, glassware, pictures, gold, silver, jewellery, collectables and antique furniture and effects. Accepting Items for General Sales We accept items for a specific sale up to 14 days before the date of that same sale. We do not accept: • furniture which does not comply with the 1988 trading standards fire regulations • gas appliances • fridges/freezers • TV’s (unless modern flat screen/plasma) After the General Sale Sold goods – payment will be sent to you 21 working days after the sale when all purchase payments have been cleared. If you wish to know your results please telephone the office on the Monday after the sale and state your vendor number. Unsold goods – an unsold letter will be sent to you the Monday after the sale stating which lots are unsold, if any, and suggesting what will happen next. Most goods will be entered for two sales after which you will be advised that they are to either be collected or will be disposed of. Advice on Reserves We can advise reserve prices as required upon entry into the sale. This is a free service. Charges MINIMUM COMMISSION is charged at the rate of £4.00 on each lot sold or 12.5% whichever is the greater. (a) All lots attract an Entry Fee of £4.00 each time they are offered for sale whether sold or unsold. The insurance charge per lot is 1.5% of the hammer price. (b) Loss and Damage Warranty On items SOLD - 1.5% pf the hammer price (c) Surcharge - sold or unsold In the sale of (for example) three piece suites and pianos, or any other lot of exceptional size or weight, a discretionary surcharge of £10 per lot will be made if the sale price does not exceed £150-00. (d) VAT at the current rate of 20% is levied on all charges. (e) Default – the Auctioneers disclaim responsibility for default by either the buyer or the vendor because they act as agents for the vendor only and therefore do not pay out to the vendor until payment is received from the buyer. Instructions given by telephone are accepted at the sender’s risk and must be confirmed in writing forthwith and be received at the office at least one day prior to sale.
