Recommend George's
This was my first time purchasing from this auction firm. They did everything correct including; description, invoice, and in-house shipping. The in-house shipping charge was approximately at cost. (The same as USPS charged the gallery.) This alone is an apparent strength for two reasons; in-house shipping is offered to begin with and is not a separate profit center for the auction firm. Too many firms do not offer in-house shipping or if they do the cost is outrageous. I recommend George's.

Poorly wrapped for shipment
I purchased from George's. I had not received the painting and after about 3 weeks I called. The person I spoke to said the painting was being shipped the next day and he would provide shipping information. I received an email the next day. However, when I received my painting it was shoddily wrapped. Actually it was unprofessionally wrapped. There was no bubble wrap or any type of protective covering. The painting was merely placed in a cardboard box that was gerry rigged to fit the painting. That it arrived in one (sort of) piece is amazing. The painting was adherred to a cardboard backing which was heavily water damaged and it does not fit properly in the frame. Whether that was a result of the poor packing, I do not know, but it was certainly not disclosed either verbally or visually.

Lousy packing
Packing was really bad which resulted in damage. Their response was to file a claim with the post office. Which would have been a waste of time since poor packing was the problem.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for hearing that your item arrived damaged. We insured the package for full value insurance (which includes bad handling) so if a claim was to be filed, the full amount would be refunded by the post office. This damage is due to bad handling as the item was packaged properly for such a large item. The problem that arose with USPS was poor handling and throwing of packages. Due to this problem recently arising with USPS we will begin to use different carriers for larger, heavier, and glass items. Our advice is to file a claim for the insurance and we are positive you will receive your money back.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that you think that. We consider photos as a large part of the description which includes the details, condition, and parts. That is why we usually post many photos per item. For this item specifically it was shown in 12 separate photos, 2 of which were all the parts shown separated in each photo, and 10 of them that showed the item from various angles. In the all of the 12 photos there was no base visible so that means there is no base sold with the item. Thank you again and we appreciate your interest in our auction.

Fast and accurate
