Regarding Lot 523 at Mehlis Auction, estimated price 350-455 with starting bid EUR 330. They did response promptly to my email asking for shipment quote but never sent me the condition report of the painting. I registered to participate in the auction on May 18 but never received any confirmation until I placed absentee bid on line on May 25 for EUR 330. On the day of the auction May 26, I won the lot because no other bids against me. But I did not receive any confirmation until my friend in Germany called them on June 1, 2016. She discovered that Mehlis will only sell the lot for EUR 350 because that was the reserved price which they never told me. After I agreed to pay EUR 20 higher, they sent me the invoice on June 4 and debit my credit card for the payment. Now I am still waiting for the painting to arrive at my address in Sydney. While I haven't received the earrings yet I expect to any day now. I was a bit hesitant about bidding on an item from an auction house in Europe other than Britain. I didn't know the language, how payment would be arranged or how the shipping would be handled. This company did everything I needed to help me successfully process the transaction and obtain shipping. They were extremely helpful and kind when dealing with my novice purchase. They never made me feel like I was a bother. I will keep my eye on their auctions and wouldn't hesitate to bid on their items in the future!!!! And please DO share this with them!!! Linda Thiede
