Paid For Lot And Never Received It!
I purchased a lot from this establishment and promptly paid for the items. After numerous attempts to verify shipping, Drinkwater Auctions was far from responsive and there was very little contact for nearly two weeks after payment. Finally, I was told that one of the items was lost... After a few more days, I was told the other items in the lot were returned to the consignor! I had paid for the lot and acquired the pieces fair and square. Why would you return the items when I legally purchased them? Very Shady. Bidder Beware.

One item of a 3 item lot went missing, and buyer was notified. He was asked whether he still wanted the remaining 2 items, and never responded. The two remaining items were then returned to a very unhappy consignor. Regarding shipping, the invoice very clearly states that shipping would be handled in-house, and an invoice for the cost of shipping would be forwarded to buyer. I couldn't provide a shipping cost on a partial lot until an agreement was reached. Buyer was refunded full amount and will be blocked from future auctions.

Communication and shipping
They are non-responsive and the shipping is expensive!

This is my 2nd auction and I forgot to check the LiveAuctioneers site for questions after the auction. There were two questions regarding shipping from this bidder-both of which were answered at the bottom of the original invoice. Not an excuse for my negligence, but just acknowledgment that the answers to his questions were available. As for shipping, I charged him $12 for packging, materials and two trips to the Postal Center. Since they don't pickup, I have to take the shipping-ready package there to get a quote, then take it back and send an invoice for the shipping amount. They have no room to store packages while waiting payment. Once I receive payment, I have to take the package back to the Postal Center, pay for it with my credit card, and then they release it. I then go back and email the recipient with carrier and tracking info. All that for $12. When I buy on L/A and use UPS, I am often charged $25 just for pickup. Then comes materials, labor etc. I do the packing myself to save money on shipping, so this is quite an astonishing remark. The painting he bought had to travel from MA to CA, fully insured. But I apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment.

The photographs didnt show the back of the item, as there was a major piece missing. The item was incomplete.

I just checked photos on-line for that lot, and there is a very clear photo of the back of the powder horn, and nothing is missing. I packed it myself, and it was complete. I wish buyer had contacted me with this problem. This is why I take multiple photos of every item. I will contact buyer now, even though it is 8 months later.

Great company. I offerred a max bid of $400 and my bid sold at $300. That does not happen everywhere. Shipping was inexpensive and Drinkwater handled it for me. I rate them as good as the best.
