A total nightmare experience, from buying to receiving

My item was broken, they didn't answer my claim

€344 to pack and ship one not particularly vulnerable figurine to UK is exhorbitant!!! I am now waiting to see how long it takes for the export permit and how prompt the shipping then is.

I was a little cautious about buying from an auction house outside the US but everything went smoothly and I’m very happy.

Setdart is very responsive, provided me with all of the information and photos I requested. They payment system is all in-house, including the packing and shipping which was nice due to needing an export license-BUT they left on a 3 week holiday without providing tracking, so I had no way of following the shipment. This is after waiting months for the export license (which is normal). The package was sent out before they left on holiday-the last email I received said they'd send me tracking as soon as they had it... a week went by after it was shipped out, nothing, and then when I requested the information I received an automated email saying they were out until the end of the month. Now that they're back and I've received the tracking information I discovered my package arrived only a few days after that last email and it has been sitting in a warehouse for almost a month. DHL said the status had changed to RETURN TO SENDER! 2.5 months of waiting... thousands of dollars spent on the pieces and shipping.... think carefully before bidding, only if its an extremely good deal AND you can afford to NOT receive your pieces or can afford to LOSE your money.

Don’t bid at this auction house site. 4 months later still trying to get my item. They don’t return your emails and they don’t answer the phones. Hope u speak Spanish cause if they do email you it will not be English. They are rude and have no clue how to handle auction items and deal with their customers. I will never bid here again.

Shipping costs are the highest I ever paid. Futhermore the communication is a disaster. I do not speak Spanish but some important information is only given in Spanish. Promises about shipping are not kept and answer to my emails I hardly get.

I find it quite astonishing that these auction houses deal with rare antique items and expect high prices, however once the item has been paid for there is no regard for safe transportation to get it to the buyer in one piece. In this case my 17th century carved Crucifix was placed in a wooden box, with the actual cross touching the sides of the box with very little buffer or padding against the box. What do you think will happen to something that’s shipped in a rigid box like that? I received it broken and I an very disappointed. I contacted the auction house with photos so they can take responsibility and they said I had to get a quote to repair it and send it to them. So the problem is pushed on the buyer to deal with it. Weeks have passed and nobody has followed up with me. If you don’t pay in their time period they chase you and open cases, however if you have an issue with these auction houses, your on your own!! Please take not Live Auctioneers.

My first experience with the auction house Setdart has been very good. The descriptions and photos of the lots were sufficient to inform me. The option to bid online was transparent and easy to use. After the auction, I contacted the auction house to make arrangements about payment and shipping of the lots won. That contact was professional and friendly at the same time. I really appreciated that.
