Lewis and Grant Auction House runs a well run streamlined operation. Fast courteous service coupled with easy shipping made my buying experience a pleasure. They really are an excellent group of auction savvy people. Never heard the words... I don't know or I'm not sure. Just knowledgeable people who walked me through the process painlessly. Only one thing I can say.... keep up the good work!!

I never received the invoice an an answer to my email

I received the item quickly and matching the pictures. However, the description said that the item was signed by General Zaragoza, which is NOT true. It is a transcript of Zaragoza ´ s words, signed by someone else.

I mailed a $1, 600 check in payment for my won item, plus shipping, on Nov. 7. The check cleared my bank on Nov. 14. When I had heard nothing from Lewis & Grant about shipping by a week later, on Nov. 21, I telephoned and emailed Lewis & Grant on that date seeking an update. No response … for 9 days. This caused me great concern that I had been scammed. Not bothering to respond for 9 days when you have cashed a customer’s $1, 600 check is not acceptable in my view.

They have the best items

when I bid, the BP was 20 % but when I got the invoice, I was charged a BP of 25 %; also I thought the shipment was kind of high at $28 for a small case of three coins

I would buy from them again.

Lewis & Grant failed to accurately reveal damage to a 10 inch round marble base and admitted as much in an email. They seemed to be open at first to some sort of compensation, and I said I would search for a replacement. I finally found one at the lowest cost I could, and offered to pay for drilling holes to it myself. They then said their insurance would not cover it. I tried to compromise reasonably and said at the least remit the mailing charges and the buyer's premium to them. This was significantly less than what it would cost to replace the base. I have contacted Live Auctioneers for help and have not yet heard back. Is there no honor at Lewis & Grant? They now offer to pay to have it shipped back and resell it. If they do, they will either take a loss or will themselves replace the base and resell. I want the piece and now have spent time and energy on it. Of course, my time means nothing. So I am waiting for Live Auctioneers to help. And I am waiting for Grant, the person who has been emailing me, to be honorable.

Rec'd Item today and packaging is something to behold! Without a doubt, nothing even close-THE BEST PACKAGING I'VE EVER SEEN! (And I'm 64 years old). Prior to receiving item-chatted with the owner on a minor subject (BTW he answered the phone-Got to love that!). First-class guy and operation! THANK YOU

All the items had detailed and clear descriptions and pictures. In-house shipping costs were more than I expected, and I would advise getting alternate quotes. But at least they do in-house shipping, which is not common. The items were paper, not breakable, and arrived very well packed and protected, which I believe added to the cost.

Auction ran well!!

I purchased an item on May 31. It took approx. 10 days for the auction house to send an invoice. That invoice included proposed shipping costs that were very high. I told the auction house to remove the proposed shipping charge from the invoice and provide the names of local shippers to contact. The auction house never replied and continues to ignore my emails. I also contacted LiveAuctioneer three times via phone and twice via email, but even LiveAuctioneer does nore reply !). After 21 days from the purchase, I am still waiting for the auction house to send me an invoice for the item purchase and to provide contact information for local shippers. We are experienced buyer who purchase regularly at auctions, both in the U. S. and abroad. Lewis Grant Auctions is by far the worse auction house we have dealt with. Buyer beware!
