Art, Sculptures and Collectibles Session 2

Oakwood Auctions, in partnership with Golden Eagle Art Gallery, is proud to present the second session of our GRAND OPENING AUCTION of fine art and collectibles. Today, we feature a large collection of original posters, limited edition prints, paintings, sports memorabilia and other collectibles. The limited edition section includes acclaimed U.S. and Canadian artists such as Bev Doolittle, Jim Salvati, Greg Olsen, to name a few. A number of unique single collectible lots are featured in this auction including a mid-18th century book, “Historia Naturalis Ranarum Nostratium” (Lot 1274); an early French Legion of Honor medal instituted by Napoleon in 1805 (Lot 1273); and a 1920 “Melody Major” full size banjo with its original case in superb condition (Lot 871). Numismatists and philatelists will appreciate our extensive selection of coins, bank notes, and stamps. U.S. collectors are encouraged to look out for Lot 1270, a rare 1893-S U.S. silver dollar. World stamp collectors should note Lot 1430, an extremely rare mint condition 1 Candarin Chinese stamp known as the Imperial Dragon. This stamp is Scotts #A-1 issue of the Imperial Maritime Customs Post. For U.S. stamp collectors, we have an impressive U.S. collection including many early and rare examples (Lot 1439). We are excited to be showcasing many rare collectible lots from around the world. Take a look at an interesting “Hongxion MP Famille” Chinese vase (Lot 1289), Egyptian papyrus (Lots 760-763), and an 18th century pair of Chinese shoes – with the only other pair found in the Bata Shoe Museum (Lot 1301). For those seeking unique collectibles, check out our selections of framed art, beautifully paired with matching native and western artifacts (Lots 748-759). We thank everyone in advance for participating in our Grand Opening Auction.
