Carved Mask Collection Part 1

An extensive exquisite collection of masks all from the same estate. Masks being offered in this first part include woven Yam Masks also referred to as a baba masks, originating from the Abelam people, along the East Sepik River Region, of Papua New Guinea. Offerings include several large and a very rare - extremely large museum quality mask (lot 25). In addition there is an extensive selection of carved wooden carnival masks from various regions in Mexico including figurative and animals, some featuring hair, teeth and bone and antlers. Many have original tags from their purchases and descriptions of their origins. Highlights include a partial clay Tastoan Mask by Artist Candelario Medrano (1918-1986) , Santa Cruz de Las Huertas Jalisco. An El Lobo Wolf Mask , Guenero, Mexico - handcrafted by the Nahuat Indians and acquired from the collection of Arnoldo Jacobo.
