Our September 18th Collector?s Passion auction offers a broad and diverse group of curated treasures from Estates and private collections. The sale is highlighted by Part II of The Myrna and Bernard Posner collection of silver and objets de vertu. Additionally, there is a large selection of George Nakashima furniture being offered for the first time since it was purchased in the 1960s from the Collection of the Estate of Elayne and Monroe Weinstein, Poughkeepsie, New York. There are several pieces of Americana being offered from the Estate of Eric Martin Wunsch, the Estate of Alice Whitney Lorillard and a private Ohio collection. Objects of note, include a group of rare 18th century cast-iron firebacks and stove plates, a beautifully inlaid Baltimore sideboard, a labeled William Fiske dressing mirror and wonderfully monumental girandole mirrors. The auction also has some terrific fine art such as two large scale paintings by John Thomas Serres which depict the maritime Battle of Saintes between the English Navy and the French during the day and at sunset. Jean-Baptiste Corot is represented with his captivating oil on canvas titled ?Prairies sur le bord de la scarpe, pres Arras". Artist such as Thomas Sully, Leonard Baskin, Niki de Saint Phalle and Jerome Kirk are also represented with works in the sale. Works can be viewed in person at our gallery Mon-Fri 10-4 on online at www.nyeandcompany.com, www.liveauctioneers.com or www.invaluable.com .
