GAUCHO SILVER-MILITARIA-HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS

Zorrilla Subastas presents Plateria Criolla, Militaria y Documentos Históricos, in which an outstanding collection of gaucho silverware, military artefacts and historic documents will be sold at auction. Standout pieces available for purchase include a French wall rifle (lot 171) which was used in Uruguay during the siege of Montevideo in the 1840s and a collection of photographs and historical documents linked to the history of Uruguay which includes the autographed manuscript with the proclamation of José Batlle y Ordóñez after the Peace of Aceguá in 1904 (lot 593). With works from national sculptors such as José Luis Zorrilla de San Martín, Edmundo Prati and José Belloni, we present some of Uruguay?s most impressive privately owner sculptures. Among this collection stands the remarkable scale reproduction of the Aparicio Saravia?s monument, by Zorrilla de San Martín (lot 380), as well as Carlos María Herrera?s study for the oil painting ?La Mañana de Asencio?, "Cargo de Gaucho Lancero" (lot 376). The exhibition period will take place at our premises from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 from Wednesday July 22nd to Wednesday August 6th, including Sunday August 2nd from 14:00 to 18:00. In order to meet social distancing standards, we ask that all those who attend the both the exhibition and auction wear a mask. If you are unable to attend the auction in person, you may place advanced bids on items during the exhibition period. Additionally, clients may also a request a telephone slot so that they can bid over the phone in real time.
