DESIGN AUCTION
Single session (lots 1-149): from 4.30 pm CEST
In this session you can find pieces of furniture that will take the bidders “to infinity and beyond”. There will be approximately 150 lots that belong to the Space Age Era, a memorable design period that took its inspiration from the launch of the Sputnik in 1957 and from the conquest of space. Nowadays, this fascination with the universe is more popular than ever thanks to Perseverance and to the Mars landing. Therefore, there will be spiral and rounded chandeliers that recall space shuttles, such as Verner Panton’s chandelier designed for Louis Poulsen (lot no. 50). There will also be unic chairs, such as Cesare Leonardi and Franca Stagi’s “Dondolo” rocking chair (lot no. 108) or spherical stools and armchairs that resemble the shape of the atoms like the "Che Palle" armchair designed by Anacleto Spazzapan (lot no. 68). Even chandeliers shaped like the Sputnik won’t be missed (lots no. 13, 31, 110 and 132). There will also be a great amount of colourful and showy lots, such as Joe Colombo’s wooden armchairs designed for Kartell (lot no. 122) and silver-plated mirrors, tables (Willy Rizzo’s, lot no. 138) and shelves (Solemio shelf designed by Giotto and Stoppino for Acerbis, lot no. 64).
Any statement regarding the artist, the date, the origin, the provenance and the condition are just an opinion and not necessarily factual.
Lots may present imperfections, signs of wear and tear of time, even in the absence of the words "defects", “flaws” or similar in the description.
Potential buyers are allowed to consult or be accompanied by trusted experts during the viewing days.
